  • Red and brown marker
  • Googly eyes
  • Earbud
  • Tape
  • Toothpick
  • Brown craft paper
  • Scissors

Procedure

Step 1: Starting Off

You will start off by cutting off the upper half of an egg carton and then cutting out the egg holders from the piece of the carton.

Step 2: The Egg Holders

After you are done cutting, grab five of the cut out the egg holders.

Step 3: Painting The Egg Holders

You will now add a bunch of colours to the egg holders. These egg holders will be the body of your caterpillar. Paint each egg holder a different colour using purple, red, yellow, blue and orange paint. Paint spots on them as well. Use different colours to make it artsy and fun looking.

Step 4: The Eyes Of The Caterpillar

Pick up the egg holder, that you have painted yellow. This will be the face of your caterpillar. Stick on it, two googly eyes.

Step 5: The Mouth Of The Caterpillar

You will now use your red marker to draw a smile on the face of the caterpillar.

Step 6: The Antenna Of The Caterpillar

Now, pick up an earbud and with a brown marker colour the white buds of the earbud. Make sure not to leave any white spots.

Step 7: The Antennae

Once you are done colouring the buds, snap the earbud into half or cut it form the middle using a pair of scissors.

Step 8: Putting The Antennae On The Caterpillar

Poke out two holes on the head of the caterpillar using a sharp pointed object. Pierce the two earbud pieces through these holes in a diagonal angle. The brown parts of the earbud should be sticking out atop the head. The antennae are ready!

Step 9: Joining The Caterpillar

You will now join each egg holder to make the body of the caterpillar. Flip all five of the egg holders such that their open surfaces are facing you. Grab two egg holders and using tape, join the edges of the holders side by side.

Step 10: The Caterpillar’s Body

Using tape, do the same as the previous step for all of the egg holders.

Step 11: Starting With The Legs

You will now cut out thick strips from a brown sheet of craft paper. These strips will be the legs of the caterpillar.

Step 12: Curling The Legs

Taking your toothpick, curl each brown strip. Using the toothpick curl inwards until the strip is bouncy and has a curl.

Step 13: Sticking The Legs

Once you are done curling the strips, stick them one by one on either side of the caterpillar. Each egg holder section of the caterpillar should have one leg on each side, i.e, two legs per holder.

Step 14: Finishing up!

Slowly move on to stick all the legs. Make sure they are stuck properly with glue.
