Materials Used

  • Green Origami Paper
  • Black and Green Marker
  • Red Sheet
  • Glue
  • Scissors

Procedure

Step 1: Folding The Paper To Form a Rectangle

Let’s begin by taking a green origami sheet of paper and folding it in half and forming a rectangle.

Step 2: Making Checks-Creases

Again fold the shorter side of the rectangle in half, make a crease, and unfold it again. Fold one side of the rectangle to the crease and then fold the other side to the crease and make creases of both folded sides and again unfold it to get back to the rectangle. Then, turn over the rectangle.

Fold the longer side of the rectangle into half, make a crease, and unfold it again. Fold one side of the rectangle to the crease and then fold the other side to the crease and make creases on both sides; again fold both sides to the crease and make creases, then unfold it to get back to the rectangle.

You will see checks-creases over the rectangle.

Step 3: Folding To Form 2 Squares Over A Thin Rectangle

From the shorter side of the rectangle, fold the first crease in the opposite direction, then turn over the rectangle and fold the longer side’s first and last creases along the crease. You will see 2 squares over one side of the thin rectangle created.

Step 4: Making Triangles Of The Squares

Push out the opened corner of the square and push in the above crease in a way that the crease of the square must match the boundary of the thin rectangle to form a triangle and make a crease.

Make another triangle from the other square, following the same step.

Step 5: Making Diagonal Creases Of Checks-square

From the other side of the thin rectangle, fold the corners to the center crease to form a triangle and make diagonal creases over the small checks-crease, unfold it again. Turn over the thin rectangle, and again fold the diagonal crease to make a crease from both sides i.e. front and back, and unfold it again.

Step 6: Forming An Arrow

Turn over the thin rectangle, from the open-mid part of the rectangle, open the overlapped side, and push in both corners along the diagonal crease to form an arrow.

Step 7: Making A 3-Sided Box

Turn over the arrow to the other side of the small triangles. Push open the folded side to make a 3-sided box.

Step 8: Zig-Zag Folding The Arrow

From the arrow’s end fold the paper in a zig-zag way along the creases.

Step 9: Completing Folding

Complete folding in a zig-zag way to place the paper inside the box and make creases after that.

Step 10: Detailing The Snake

Unfold the arrow, and you will see a wavy snake. Make the eyes and texture of the snake using black and green markers as shown in the image.

Step 11: Pasting Tongue Of Snake

Using scissors cut out a forked tongue of a snake with a red sheet and paste it in between the mouth with glue.

Step 12: Folding The Snake

Fold the snake along the zig-zag/wavy creases.

Step 13: Placing The Snake Inside The Box

Place the snake inside the box and hold it.
