DIY Eye Glasses Craft Using Plastic Bottle & Straw Step-by-step tutorial

This tutorial shows you how to make your own eyeglasses frames using plastic bottles and straws. It’s a fun activity for kids and adults!

Welcome to this step-by-step tutorial on making DIY eyeglasses using plastic bottles and straws. This is another of our unique crafts that use the best out of waste. This project is for children of a higher age group like from 10 years. There are sharp objects required for this craft so we strictly advise that parents or guardians should be assisting the child to make this craft. This is a unique and fun craft for children. DIY Eye Glasses Craft Using Plastic Bottle and Straw

Materials Required

  • Small white plastic bottle (eg – milk bottle, beverage bottle, etc.)
  • Straws
  • Scissors
  • Knife
  • Glue gun/Glue stick

Procedure

Step 1: Cutting The Plastic Bottle

Use the knife to cut the plastic bottle from the bottom in order to get two circular frames for the eye glass.

Step 2: Placing The Plastic Eye Glass Frames

You have to cut the bottom of the plastic bottle into two circular hollow halves. This is the frame for our eyeglass. Place them side by side on a table.

Step 3: Cutting The Straw

Use the scissor to cut the wavy portion of the straw carefully from the middle.

Step 4: Stretching The Straw

Now that we have cut out the wavy portion from the straw, we will pull it from the two opposite ends and stretch it. This will elongate the straw.

Step 5: Bending The Straw

After elongating the straw, bend it downwards from the middle. Press gently, do not rush.

Step 6: Cutting The End Of Straw

Use the scissor to cut off both the edges of the straw. Be careful.

Step 7: Using The Glue Gun

Put some gum on both the edges that are now cut from the straw.

Step 8: Joining The Frames With The Straw

Now stick each end of the straw on either side of the frames previously cut off. Our frame for the eyeglass is ready.

Step 9: Making The Holders Of The Eye Glass

Use the straw now to make the side holders of the eyeglass. See that your straw shape matches the above picture.

Step 10: Sticking The Holders To The Frames Of Eye Glass

Stick the wavy end of the straw to the side of the plastic bottle circular frame with glue. Do the same on both the frames. Our frame holders are ready. The DIY eyeglass is almost ready. Let’s give the final touches to it.

Step 11: Cut The Straw End For The Tips Of The Eye Glass

Use the scissor to cut the ends of another straw. This cut off straw ends will form the tips of our eye glass.

Step 12: Finishing The Eye Glass

Use gum to join the cut off tips of the straw to the holders of the eye glass. Let it dry.

Finally, The Eye Glass With Plastic Bottle And Straw Is Ready
