Food Groups Flashcards for Kids – Free Printables
Food and water are the basic requirements for any human being to survive. The food items are classified into basic food groups. These food groups provide the nutrients essential for the sustenance of life and growth. Also known as ‘everyday foods’, each of the food groups provides a range of nutrients, which play a role in helping, maintaining, and increasing body function. It is known to each of us that to maximize growth and health, we must consume a balanced diet. A balanced diet is required since it includes a variety of foods from each of the five food groups.
Since it contains all of the food items from each group, it is rich in nutrients and provides us with the energy needed to carry on with our busy lives.
This week, we bring to you these hand-drawn food group flashcards for you to teach your students or kids about the different food groups and their benefits. There are five different food groups.
These are:
- Cereals, bread, and other grains
- Vegetables and legumes
- Fruits
- Milk, cheese, and others
- Lean meat, fish, poultry, eggs, and nuts
The flashcards contain images of several food items that can be classified into one of these food groups. Ask your kid to identify the food items and sort them into their respective groups.
