Materials Required

  • White art sheet
  • Oil pastels (All shades of blue)
  • Palette Knife
  • Scratcher
  • White paint
  • Old toothbrush
  • White tape

Procedure

Step 1: Take a White Art Sheet

Your first step is to take a white art sheet. Then, cover all four sides of the white art sheet with white tape. Stick the white tape on the outside of the border too, so that your white art sheet doesn’t move when you are painting.

Now, take dark blue colour oil pastel, fill the dark blue colour oil pastel till the middle of the white art sheet as shown.

Then, take a little lighter oil pastel shade of blue than the previous oil pastel shade. Fill the colour on the white art sheet. But do not fill the whole white art sheet. And fill the colour in a way that this current shade of blue oil pastel merges with the previous shade of blue oil pastel.

Step 3: Make Mountainous Shape From the Scratcher

Now, take a scratcher and make mountainous curves or shapes on the blue shades of oil shades which you have filled in the above step.

Step 4: Take a White Paint from Palette Knife

Take a white coloured paint from the palette knife as shown in the picture.

Step 5: Fill the White Paint on the Mountainous Shape

Now, take a white coloured paint on the palette knife. After taking white coloured paint on the palette knife, start filling white paint on the mountainous shape which you made from scratcher on the shades of blue oil pastels.

Keep repeating the step of filling the white coloured paint with the help of palette knife in the mountainous shape which you had drawn from scratcher. Palette knife is specifically used to give the mountains an uplifting part and it kind of makes it look 3D.

Now, take very little amount of white coloured paint on the palette knife and make moon and stars on the upper side of the white art sheet or on the first shade of blue oil pastel you did.

Step 8: Scribble Light Blue and Dark Blue Oil Pastel

Now, take a light blue shade of oil pastel and fill half light blue colour on the bottom side of the white art sheet.

Then, take a dark blue shade of the oil pastel (preferably which you had taken to fill the first half of the white sheet). Fill the dark blue shade of oil pastel below the light blue shade on the white art sheet.

Remember you don’t have to fill both the colours appropriately like how we usually fill colour, you just have to colour like you are marking the area.

Firstly, take a small cardboard or something and divide the line between mountainous area and bottom part, so that the colours doesn’t mess up.

Now, after you have fill the light blue shade and dark blue shade of oil pastel, take the middle shade of these two shades. After taking the middle shade of the oil pastel merge both the light and dark shade of blue oil pastels as shown.

Now, to give a watery effect, take a palette knife with white coloured paint on it. After taking the white coloured craft, fill the paint on the bottom of the mountainous area or where you have merged the shades of blue in the above step.

Now, take your old toothbrush which you do not use. Put some white coloured paint on the old toothbrush. After taking white paint on toothbrush, sprinkle the white coloured paint by brushing your index finger on the bristles of the brush. But remember to sprinkle the white coloured paint only above the mountainous region.
