Art Integrated learning

Art Integrated learning (AIL) is a teaching method or a teaching-learning method that works on the principle to teach children through art and crafts. In this method, art and craft become the key medium to teach children a variety of concepts.  Through this method, learners can explore the concepts with creativity while making connections between art and the concepts with the help of various art forms.

Art is categorized into two forms that are visual and performing arts.

Visual Arts

Visual art includes art in the form of painting, paper crafting, pottery, clay models, drawings, heritage crafts, puppet making, etc.

Performing Arts

Performing art includes puppet shows, dance, music, theater, etc.

These kinds of art activities lead to better performance and help to construct a deep understanding of different concepts. Art and Craft are flexible and can be accommodated according to the age of the students also opens doors to many experiential learning approaches.

In schools, students can learn through art and craft at all levels of schooling. The experiential nature of art helps children to respond through their imagination and creativity and also strengthens them emotionally. The need for art integrated learning varies on the ability, age, and social context of a child. Different stages when children can learn art integrated learning are :

Pre-primary Level

Small kids are both inquisitive and highly energetic. activities like drawing, painting, clay art and music are both knowledgeable and engaging activities for kids. It is better to make children learn the concepts through “arts”. Sometimes it is difficult to grab the whole attention of students as verbal learning seems to be quite boring for them, but through arts, you can easily steal the whole focus of the kids.

When children enjoy the process of learning there is a high chance that they will memorize the concept for a very long time, also through “arts” they can understand the topic far better than verbal learning in the classrooms. There are a lot of benefits of Art Integrated learning some of them are as follows.
