This craft project is perfect for kids to make at home! It will bring a little bit of the outdoors indoors and make your kids smile. It’s an easy DIY Handprint Cactus Artwork.

This tutorial will teach you to make cactus art with your own handprints. Cactus are a plant found mainly in deserts but you can also grow them in a pot at home. They have prickly thorns all over them and are green in color. This craft is going to replicate the pot cacti with a slight improvisation, apart from harsh thorns it will also be having beautiful and gentle flowers. This is a liberty you can choose to have only through craft. It is extremely simple to make and quite beginner friendly. It will also be a lot of fun to make this craft and the whole activity can be very enjoyable. So, collect all the material required, and let’s get started.

Material Required

• A white sheet of paper
• Green, red, and yellow paint
• A cardboard sheet
• Glue stick
• A pair of scissors
• A black sketch pen

Procedure

Step 1: Painting Your Hands

Take some green paint and start spreading it on your entire left hand right from finger tips to the end of the palms. You can do that by either using a paint brush or simple pouring some on the palette and dipping your hand in it. See the picture below for reference.

Step 2: Stamping the Sheet With your Hand

Stamp this painted hand on the sheet leaving the full impression of your hand on it. Separate your fingers while doing that in order to shape the impression properly. Press down to make the impression prominent. See the picture below for reference. This will act as the base of out cactus plant.

Step 3: Making the Pot for the Plant

Take a cardboard sheet and cut a trapezium shape out of it. The size of this trapezium should be around the size of the palm of the hand impression. Apply some glue on it and this trapezium on the bottom of the palm right below the thumb impression. The wider surface of the trapezium should be kept on the top side while pasting the shape. Step 4: Making a Flower On the Cactus

Take some red paint on your index finger and stamp it on the top of the impression of the index finger. Stamp five more such impressions next to this impression making a circle of them. See the picture below for reference. It shall look like a flower and they will serve as the petals of this flower.

Step 5: Making Flowers On All the Fingers

Repeat the process on all the fingers using same stamping technique and red paint. Take some yellow paint on your index finger and stamp it in the middle of the petals. Do this to all the flowers to complete the process. See the picture below for reference.

 Making Thorns On the Cactus

Take a black sketch pen and draw short lines on the palm of the hand following a scattered pattern.See the picture below for reference. These lines shall serve as the thorns of the cactus.

This completes the process of making this craft and we are left with a beautiful pot plant. Today, you learned to make art using the shape of your own hands.
