Procedure

Step 1: Take a Big Sheet Of Yellow Paper

Take the sheet of chart paper and cut out two circles as big as your forearm or the hand of an adult.

Step 2: Make a Mark With a Pencil On The Sheet

Place one circle on the other covering half the surface of the circle below and mark the outline of the circle above with a pencil on the circle below.

Step 3: Cutting The Mark Out

Take a pair of scissors and cut a sheet on the lines of the mark you made earlier making a crescent shape. With that our moon is ready. Be careful with the scissors.

Step 4: Make Two Sets Of Stars And a Pair Of Crescents

Now, cut out some stars from the big sheet of the chart. You can do that by first drawing a star on the sheet with a pencil and then cutting it out with scissors. The star needs to have only five sides and its size should be smaller than the moon. Make two sets of these stars and the crescent with four stars and a single crescent in each set.

Step 5: Sticking The Thread On The Shapes

Take a thread and place it on the crescent and the stars. The positioning of the stars should be below the crescent, two on one side and two parallel to them. Place two threads on both pairs of stars and connect them to the crescent through the thread.

Step 6: Pasting The Two Crescents Together

Take the other crescent you made earlier and paste it over the crescent you placed the threads on with the help of a glue stick, sealing the thread between them.

Step 7: Pasting The Other Set Of Stars To Seal The Thread

Continuing the process, take the other set of stars you made earlier and paste it over the set of stars bearing the thread with the same glue stick. Press them down to the ends for a better finish.

Step 8: Make a Sleepy Face On The Moon

Take a pencil and draw sleeping eyes on the crescent. You can do that by just drawing two horizontal sleeping lines. Do add some lashes to it. Use the same technique, minus the lashes, to draw the smile.

Step 9: Adding Some Blush

Outline the face with a sketch pen and make two red dots on the cheeks with a red crayon.

Hang it next to the window of your room and open the window for the breeze to work its magic on it and you will have all the luck you need to achieve your starry dreams.

This tutorial taught us to make yet another object from nature which, although, not present on earth is a very important part of our ecosystem. Think of some more celestial bodies that you can make using just some sheets of paper and the beauty their decoration is going to add to your room. It will also teach you more about our galaxy and our planetary system. You can even build your own model of the solar system using similar techniques and by doing that you can connect art with knowledge, and learn more about both subjects.
