“Sentio ergo sum.” That’s Latin for ”I feel, therefore I am”. Throughout our lives, we human beings experience several emotions. These make us who we are. We get agitated, frustrated, excited, happy, sad, nervous, jealous, frightened, worried, angry, and embarrassed. Emotion is a subjective state of mind. It can be a reaction to internal factors or events that occur in our environment. In general, emotions are reactions to an event that make us feel a certain way.
Feelings Flashcards For Toddlers
Since it is abstract, emotions are hard to categorize. Emotions are subjective; thus, people can’t name all of them. Some people claim humans only have six basic emotions, while others argue we experience upwards of 34,000 types of feelings. From the moment we are born, we learn to recognize different emotions. We develop the emotional skills needed to identify, express, and manage our feelings.
This is done through social interactions and building relationships with people in our lives. Not all emotions can be expressed through vocabulary.
A person can be confused, calm, or disappointed. One can be happy if he is loved or sad if he is not. People get hurt and worried, sleepy and excited, confident or proud. Emotions have no bounds. One can always guess at how someone else is feeling by looking at their face. While no one else can say for sure how the other person is feeling, these cues give one a certain idea.
At a young age, kids communicate their feelings in ways other than articulating how they feel. Kids can express their feelings through facial expressions and their behavior. Hence, it is important to help them identify the different emotions with the help of certain facial cues that kids use in their early days. These flashcards aim to help children identify the facial expressions and associate them with the emotions that relate to them.
