Pretty Flower Painting Hack with Cotton Earbuds

In full bloom of summers, flowers fill the air with its sweet smell. They attract little insects towards its nectar adding immense life to the atmosphere and making it more zealous. They add colour and beauty to our gardens and are a great gifting item as well. In this tutorial, we will be making  a painting of these flowers using some sketch pens with a twist, using ear buds in giving a unique finish to the flowers. Now, isn’t that cool! Collect all the material required to make this painting and lets get started.

Materials Required

• A white sheet of paper
• A pair if scissors
• Sketch pens in colours, green, orange and yellow
• Ear buds
• Some water

Procedure

Step 1: Working on the Sheet of Paper

Take a white sheet of paper and cut a circle out of it. Place the sheet on the table. Take the yellow sketch pen and draw a circle by making a big dot in the top section of the sheet right in the middle as shown in the picture below. This shall serve as the bud of the flower.

Step 2: Drawing Some Petals Around the Bud

Take an orange sketch pen and draw lines around this yellow circle as shown in the picture below. These lines shall act as the petals of the flower and this completes the making of the first flower of this painting.

Step 3: Making Seven More Flowers

Make seven more similar yellow circles on the top section of the sheet as you did in the first step. Now, draw lines around all of these circles using same orange sketch pen you used in the previous step. See the picture below for reference. You now have eight flowers drawn on the top section of the sheet. On close examination, you might notice that they somewhat look like the sun.

Step 4: Working with the Ear Bud

Take a clean ear bud and soak it in water. Now, take this soaked bud and start patting the flowers lightly just to release the colour from the sketched drawings. This will give the petals a definite shape and make them blend in the buds naturally. See the picture below for reference.

Step 5: Drawing the stems of the flowers

Take a green sketch pen and make a dot in the middle of the circumference at the bottom of the sheet. Now, connect this dot with the flowers using lines as shown in the picture below. The two flowers at the top should be left for the next step as they cannot be connected with the dot directly. Make the lines slightly curved to make them appear more organic and real.

Step 6: Drawing some leaves

For the two flowers at the top, connect them at with the flowers below by simply drawing two straight lines between the flowers as shown in the picture below. Now, using the same sketch pen, draw a lot of leaves on all the stems drawn in the previous step. Take a look at the image below and observe the shape and positioning of the leaves closely.

Step 7: Completing the process of making leaves

Fill all the stems with leaves, even the two straight lines you drew in the previous step. Now, take an ear bud and soak it in water. Take the soaked ear bud and pat the leaves gently with it to release the green colour and fill in the leaves with some green stain. See the picture below for reference.

Hurray !! Your Flower Artwork is Ready !!

Take a yellow sketch pen and slightly outline all the green leaves with it. The outlined colour should look very subtle and gentle. See the picture below for reference.

This completes the tutorial for today and we learned a yet another unique way of making a flower painting. You can hang it on the walls of your room or paste it in your art book. You can also submit it as an art project in school. You learned unique coloring skills in this tutorial and a technique to create a unique painting like painting with an earbud and creating a unique effect by simply making the sketched lines spread out colour and stain the surrounding sheet.
