Math Indoor Activities for Toddlers and Preschoolers
These are 10 easy indoor activities you must try with your toddlers. Kids love to play games and these games are very informative as well as great for increasing knowledge. You will not need a lot of materials and time for these, yet you will enjoy yourself with your kids. Math Indoor Activities for Toddlers and Preschoolers
Activity 1: Counting activity
Materials required:
- Bottles
- Straws
- glue
- scissor
- cardboard
- marker
- paper
Procedure:
- Take a few bottles and cut out the top part and paste them on the cardboard.
- Now take a paper and trace the bottle caps on the paper and with the help of the scissor cut them out.
- Then write numbers on the paper and paste them on the top of the caps.
- Now take the straws and cut them into pieces.
- Then paste them on the sides of the top part of the bottles.
- Now as per the straws let your kid count and put the exact cap number on the top of the bottle.
Activity 2: Arranging in order
Materials required:
- paper glasses
- paper
- colors
- marker
Procedure:
- Take a paper and draw 3 glasses at the bottom then 2 at the top of that and then 1.
- Then take the colors and make a circle on the glasses drawn and color them.
- Now take the colors as per the glasses drawn and draw circles on the glasses and color them.
- Make 2-3 different sequences of color glasses on the paper.
- Take the colorful glasses and put them in a line.
- Now give the paper to your kid and let them arrange it in order and make the correct color pyramid.
Activity 3: Arrangement of shapes
Materials required:
- paper
- sketch pens
- shapes
Procedure:
- Take a paper and different – different shapes.
- Now put the shapes on the paper and trace them with the same color sketch pens as per the shapes.
- Then gather all the shapes together and let your kid put the exact same shape on the correct traced lines.
Activity 4: Match it
Materials required:
- plastic glasses
- papers
- scissor
- glue
- marker
Procedure:
- Take a few plastic glasses and paper.
- Now with the help of the scissor cut out a few small circles.
- Then paste the circles on the plastic glasses.
- Now take age plastic glasses and draw trees and at the bottom write down the numbers.
- Then let your kids count the circles and choose the correct tree number and put it over it.
Activity 5: Match the numbers
Materials required:
- ice cream sticks
- paper
- marker
- glue
- scissor
Procedure:
- Take a paper and trace the ice cream sticks 7 times on the paper.
- Now write 3 numbers each inside the shapes.
- Then take a paper and cut out small circles and write down numbers on it.
- Now paste the circles on the ice cream sticks, paste 3 circles on each stick as per the order written in the paper.
- Then give all the sticks to your kid and let them choose the correct one and put them on the top of it.
Activity 6: Match the design
Materials required:
- cardboard
- sketch pens
- papers
- marker
- scissor
Procedure:
- Take a cardboard and a marker and draw vertical and horizontal lines on it and make 16 boxes.
- Now take a sketch pen and draw different – different designs in each box.
- Then take a paper and draw exact same boxes with the same designs and with the help of the scissor cut them out.
- Now gather all the papers together and let your kid arrange them and put them in the correct box.
Activity 7: Match the shapes
Materials required:
- cardboard
- papers
- glue
- scissor
Procedure:
- Take a cardboard and cut out a few square shapes.
- Now with the help of the scissor cut out the square shapes from the middle.
- Then take a paper and draw different shapes on it and cut them out.
- Now cut the shapes from the middle and paste both the half pieces on both the half pieces of square shapes.
- Then assemble all the pieces together and let your kid find out the perfect match and put them together.
Activity 8: Match the caps
Materials required:
- bottles
- papers
- cardboard
- scissor
- glue
Procedure:
- Take a cardboard and take different – different bottles and cut the top part of the bottles and paste them on the cardboard.
- Now open the caps of the bottles and gather them together.
- Then put some colored papers inside the bottle’s top which looks the same and cut the color papers and paste them on the top of the cap.
- Now give all the caps to your kid and let them choose the correct bottle and cap.
Activity 9: Matching
Materials required:
- paper
- marker
- cardboard
- scissor
Procedure:
- Take a paper and a marker and then write down a few numbers on the paper, you can repeat the numbers.
- Now take a cardboard and write down the exact numbers as per the order and then with the help of the scissor cut them out.
- Then let your kid select the exact order and sequence of the numbers and put them together.
Activity: Find the numbers
Materials required:
- paper clips
- papers
- thread
- cardboard
- marker
- bids
Procedure:
- Take a cardboard and then tie a thread on it.
- Now take few paper clips and put them on the thread.
- Then take a paper and cut out few small rectangular shapes and then write numbers on them.
- Now paste them on the paper clips.
- Then take a paper and with the help of the scissor cut out few dress shapes.
- Now take some bids as buttons and put them on the paper dresses.
- Then count the bids and let your kid put them on the correct number paper clip.
