Activities for Kids

If a child will excel in a subject in the future or not is decided at an early age when they are learning the basics. The more practice they put into learning the fundamentals of a subject, the less time it takes for them to master it in its advanced and complex levels. But children might find subjects like geometry to be boring and monotonous after a while, curtsy of most textbook exercises formulated in a similar pattern. In the face of such complaints, the following worksheets can come to your rescue and help your child clear their concepts of horizontal, vertical and diagonal lines.

Lines are an uni dimensional straight set of points that extend in either end. There are three kinds of lines that a child needs to be familiar with: Horizontal, vertical and diagonal lines. These are differentiated based on which directions they extend in.

The first sheet given consists of everyday objects that can be placed in the mold of any of the different types of lines. You need to help your child cut out each object along the dotted lines  and then place them under the columns they feel appropriate. They may become confused with some lines as these graphics are designed to trick a young mind, you must clear their confusions in an encouraging tone.

After the child is done placing all the cut outs under every column, check their answers and ask for rationale. If they are able to provide a satisfactory answer then you should know that they have understood  the concept through and through. But, very understandably, the child will be prone to make silly mistakes and ask silly questions. Do not discredit them when this happens and treat them as genuine curiosities of a little human encountering new adventures everyday.
