Outdoor Activities For Healthy Mental And Physical Development Of Kids

We understand that planning activities for kids is not really a child’s play. It requires a lot of understanding of children’s psyche and multi-dimensional planning to ensure safety, growth and entertainment. To make your work a tiny bit easier, we have planned a host of fun outdoor activities for kids which will support their physical and mental wellbeing.
The following activities can easily be organized in backyards and gardens with minimal material. All the activities have been formulated after a great deal of research to support motor development, sensory strength, divergent thinking and to reduce negative emotions and stress among children.
Outdoor Activities for Kids
1. Mini Theatre
Kids love to hear and tell stories. Go ahead and organize a mini theatre event where your kids can dress up as their favorite fictional characters and share stories. This activity is a great way to develop morals, ethics and manners in children by enacting meaningful stories. This will also tell them about the importance of teamwork while developing their creative skills.
2. Roll It
This maze can easily be made using waste plastics and cardboard. This brings a plethora of learning opportunity for young minds as they develop a sense of size, height, shape and problem-solving ability.
3. Ribbon Fun
This is yet another fun activity for kids aged 3 to 6 years. Tie colorful ribbons and ropes and let your kid identify particular colors and patterns. It requires minimum effort on your part but guarantees maximum fun for children.
4. Make Way
Use stripes cut from old fabrics to make this little human maze and let your kid find a way to the other side. This is not only a good way to exercise but also flexes the brain muscles. Don’t worry if they get stuck a few times, they will soon find a way out using their own creativity. Isn’t it all they need to find their way through life?
5. Floaty Fun
Organize this one as a competition. Ask kids to collect as many objects as they can from the garden within 30 seconds. The kid who manages to collect the maximum objects which float in water shall win. This easy activity is a fun way to develop a sense of weights and materials in kids.
6. Garden Organization
There is a lot of learning opportunity in this simple daily life activity. Let your kids clean and organize the garden stuff. It is a perfect physical exercise and helps in developing creative thinking capacity.
7. Backyard Swings
Due to the ongoing pandemic restrictions, it might be difficult for you to take kids to amusement parks. So why not bring the swings to your kids! Come on parents, take out your rusting tool kits and build these stretch swings for your kids. No matter how long the pandemic restrictions continue, your kids physical growth should not take a back seat!
8. Furnish It
Let your kids paint old tires and build fancy furniture for their play meetings and get-togethers. Excellent to develop motor skills, this is learning integrated with fun.
9. Musical Outdoors
Music helps to calm down anxiety that can often occur as a result of staying outdoors for a long period of time. This musical activity is suitable for ages 5 to 8. Follow our tutorial to know more
8. Tube Tunnel
Arrange funnels and tubes in a fun manner and let kids explore their way through it. It will act as a mini water park to them and they will surely love splashing about it. This is a good sensory activity and helps in developing a tactile sense in little minds.
We assure you that every ounce of effort you put in this is going to be worth it. Let us know your experiences in the comments section and visit our website for more fun stuff!
